Gonard Youri (Blonay)

Youri Gonard saws, sands, cuts, slices, carves and notches wood to bring us original creations.

This freelance cabinetmaker, based in Blonay (VD), recovers old wood, lonely planks, table legs or the carcasses of abandoned furniture. Letting himself be guided by what these elements or the project inspire, he then transforms them to create new, unique pieces of furniture.

He also enjoys creating and working with solid wood, and mainly uses natural finishing products.
The idea is to encourage people, through a creative approach, to take an interest in furniture that is out of the ordinary, that is locally produced, and to think twice before rushing to the garbage bin with their heirloom furniture!

In this way, the artist proposes a new way of thinking about furniture.
This lover of materials and the living invites us to taste and rediscover wood as a source of inspiration, a noble material that bears witness to the past and the beauty of the world.

In addition to his craft, Youri likes to switch from wood chisels to paintbrushes. The result is an abstract, balanced body of work inspired by his influence as a builder.

Main achievements: creation of bespoke furniture such as solid wood tables and benches, wardrobes, kitchens, TV units, sidboards, bookcases, attic layouts, made-to-measure creations, etc...
